The Proximus antenna
The tower was originally designed by Belgacom to serve as a relay for the mobile phone and microwave networks, as well as for the introduction of GSM, which was then in the making. This ridge, which dominates the village at an altitude of 306 m, was ideal for its location. The work, which began in January 1991, was carried out by the Galère company. Eighteen months later, the tower was operational. At a height of 86 m, it is necessary to climb 405 steps to reach the top! The building at the base of the tower contains two rooms: one for transmission and the other for backup and power supply (high and low voltage). The next challenge will be the deployment of 5G.
